Bankrupt, Cepiring Sugar Factory Lays Off All Employees. Lawyers from PT IGN  Banohara explained that they had met with representatives of the staff and with Kunto Nugroho, Interim Kendal Regent. “The layoff letters have already been sent. We implemented the layoffs as of 31 December 2015,” said Banohara on Tuesday (5/01/2015). Banohara added that there are about 360 employees of PT IGN. Given this decision to lay off staff, he has asked all employees to stop coming to work. “We have already paid all four months of salaries that we owed to staff, including December. Meanwhile, salaries for September, October, and November will be transferred into employees’ accounts by 8 January,” he explained. Meanwhile, Sugeng, a representative of the employees of PT IGN Cepiring, stated that the staff are rejecting the layoffs that the company is implementing. The reason is that the layoffs were only implemented unilaterally. He explained that, according to the law, layoffs should involve both parties. “We will continue to come to work. This is because the layoffs that the company is implementing are not in line with procedures,” he said. Sugeng hopes that there can still be good communication between the staff and the management of PT. IGN, in line with the Regent’s wishes. With respect to this matter, Kunto Nugroho, Interim Kendal Regent, said that his office will not interfere with the layoffs of staff being implemented by the management of PT KGN. However, he asked both parties to communicate with each other.“The problem between the employees and the management is only due to a lack of communication. As a result, a lot of unclear information is getting through,” he explained.

Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said that this packet was released to anticipate the developments and competitive ability of the government in the domestic and global economic market. Getting even cheaper: Oil falls to 11-year low. The drop is in line with signals that global oil supply will again exceed demand next year. Brent crude oil prices fell further than U.S. crude prices as the market anticipated the end of a 40-year-old ban on U.S. crude oil exports. President Barack Obama signed a rule on Friday (18/12/2015) that lifted the ban on crude oil exports. Brent crude fell 51 cents to $36.35 a barrel, its lowest since July 2004. While U.S. crude rose 1 cent to $34.74 a barrel after tumbling to $33.98 a barrel. `The fundamentals are very bearish. The warm weather is killing the market and the overhang of supply is weighing on prices,` said Phil Flynn, analyst at Price Futures Group in Chicago, as quoted from Reuters. Although consumers enjoy low fuel prices, major oil exporters were forced to re-evaluate their currencies, sell their assets and even announce debts for the first time as they try to improve their financial condition. OPEC, led by Saudi Arabia, continued with their policy to flood the market with their high production. The policy was not expected to change despite the fact that lower prices will burden the cartel members.
