Oil prices dip amid OPEC deal concerns. OPEC officials endorsed a document outlining their long-term strategy on Monday, in a sign that members are reaching a consensus on output management. However, analysts said the progress made by OPEC so far is minimal, fanning market concerns that the group may fail to implement a planned output cut as countries including Iran and Iraq oppose such a move. Iraqi Oil Minister Jabar Ali al-Luaibi said last week that his country, OPEC's second largest producer, wants to be exempted from any output cut as it needs more money to fight the Islamic State (IS) militant group. OPEC agreed last week to reduce its oil output to 32.5 million barrels per day from the current level of 33.24 million barrels per day to shore up the market. The oil cartel will decide on concrete production levels for each member at its formal meeting in Vienna later this month. The U.S. benchmark, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for December delivery, lost 1.84 U.S. dollars to settle at 46.86 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Meanwhile, Brent crude for December delivery, the global benchmark, decreased 1.41 dollars to close at 48.30 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange, Xinhua reported. (UU.A026)

Ministry encourages digitizing of BUMN products' business. `As part of the the big family of the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises, Telkom Group is ready to maximize the role of blanja.com in the UMKM sector,` said Telkom CEO Alex J. Sinaga in a press release in Jakarta on Monday. According to Alex, the synergy between Telkom Group and the state-owned company was carried out in the `BUMN Untuk Negeri` program in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara last week, which was attended by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno. `The presence of blanja.com as an online display for all UMKM products, fostered by the BUMN, encourages business players to compete on a global level,` said Alex. Meanwhile, the `BUMN Creative House Program` is a form of initiation by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises to improve the competence of UMKM business actors through guidance and training. The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises plans to build 514 BUMN Creative House units in regencies/municipalities. In the BUMN Creative House program, the Telkom Group provides support in the form of digital business training through the blanja.com e-commerce platform. Palembang (ANTARA News) - Business opportunities of coffee beans or coffee shops in the city of Palembang, South Sumatra, are quite promising because the education about coffee on the people is increasing.  The coffee business in the city is currently relatively thriving, so sales turnover of coffee beans including the number of visitors to coffee shops has increased 20 to 30 percent each month, said Fadel (24), the owner of `Kedai Kopi Baik` when met at the Kampung Arab Al-Munawir Palembang coffee festival, Sunday. He explained, the coffee festival involved 16 businessmen and coffee shop owners in the city of Palembang, Pagaralam, Empat Lawang and Muaraenim - the best coffee producing region in South Sumatra.  Kampung Al-Munawir became the destination of the coffee festival because in the Dutch colonial period, the area had already concocted coffee with unique mixed herbs.  After the Independence Day, the coffee produced by Kampung Al-Munawir became known with various brands, such as ABK and Sendok Emas, said Muhammad bin Abdul Kadir (58), one of the traditional leaders and sixth generation in the village.

RNI Targets 78,000 Hectares of Sugarcane Plantation. RNI's President Director Didiek Prasetyo said amid the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the Utilization of Forest Areas for Sugarcane Farming in Jakarta, Wednesday (26/10), `The increase in the sugar plantation area is in line with the 2019 self-sufficiency sugar target program with a production target of about three million tons.` Three state-owned companies synergized to increase their sugar production, namely RNI, PTPN III, and Perum Perhutani.According to Didik, currently RNI has seven sugar factories with 55,000 hectares of sugarcane plantation, including of right to cultivate and community cane.In the collaboration, RNI will plant sugarcane on 20,000 hectares of land provided by Perhutani in KPH Indramayu, KPH Majalengka, and KPH Semarang.He said the scope of the collaboration includes the provision of forest land for the sugarcane farming with the agroforestry model starting from the management of seeds, product shipment, production increase, and sugarcane productivity.Furthermore, the empowerment of the community around the forest through sugarcane farming, provision of sugarcane farming experts, and provision and funding of the working capital for the collaboration on sugarcane farming with syndicated credit.Meanwhile, Perhutani's President Director Denaldy M Mauna said in the future with the agroforestry model Perhutani will optimize the combination of forest and food plants, including sugarcane, forest trees and cattle (silvopasture), or with fish (silvofishery).`With the 2.4 million hectares of forest land, in the future we will focus more on the agroforestry model while still following the rules of sustainable forest management. Currently, we are implementing a logging system with a 1:9 composition, meaning that for every hectare logged we replant nine times to maintain the sustainability of forest resources,` Denaldy said. Oil prices had been under pressure for the previous three sessions after Iraqi oil minister Jabar Ali al-Luaibi said on Sunday (Oct. 23) that his country, OPEC's second-largest producer, wants to be exempted from output cuts as it needs more money to fight the Islamic State militant group.Crude prices were lifted on Thursday after energy ministers from Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies said their partner Russia this week offered to reduce its oil output by as much as four percent, according to media reports.OPEC last month agreed to reduce output to 32.5 million barrels per day (bpd) from the current level of 33.24 million bpd to prop up the market. The group is due to agree on concrete output levels for each country at its formal meeting in Vienna in November.Oil prices also found support after government data showed that U.S. crude inventories unexpectedly declined last week.The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its weekly report on Wednesday (Oct. 26) that U.S. crude oil inventories fell by 600,000 barrels last week, against market consensus for an increase of 1.7 million barrels.U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for December delivery increased 54 cents to settle at US$49.72 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.Meanwhile, Brent North Sea crude, the global benchmark, for December delivery, also rose 54 cents to close at US$50.47 a barrel on the ICE Futures Europe exchange in London, Xinhua reported. China’s ZTO Express files for biggest U.S. IPO since Alibaba. The Shanghai-based company raised about $1.4 billion and has a market valuation of more than $12 billion after its stock market debut. It marks the largest U.S. IPO by a Chinese company since e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd raised about $21.8 billion in 2014. Most of the proceeds from the IPO will be used to buy more land, facilities, equipment and trucks, the prospectus said. Founded in 2002, ZTO has seen the number of parcels it delivers jump to 2.94 billion in 2015 from 279 million in 2011, the prospectus said. The courier firm made 4.2 billion yuan (US$619 million) in revenue in the first half of 2016, a 70.8 percent year-on-year increase, with a profit margin of 24.9 percent. China's express delivery sector has been growing rapidly on the back of a booming e-commerce market, with players tapping public markets to fund their expansion in the fiercely competitive industry. ZTO's main rival YTO Express went public on Oct. 20, with others including SF Express, STO Express and Yunda Express also preparing to list.
