Chamber gives solution to palm oil export barriers to Europe. Currently, Indonesian CPO exports to the European Union are said to be only approximately 3.5 million tons out of the total CPO exports reaching 22-23 million tons per year.
`The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is responsible for erasing the negative stigma of Indonesian CPO. The black campaign that has been going for so long must be broken. Our CPO is environmentally friendly and prioritizes principles of sustainable nature conservation,` said Rosan, on Friday (20/11/2015).
Rosan made this statement with regard to his candidacy for chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) for the 2015-2020 period, which will take place in Bandung, West Java, from November 22 to 24.
He emphasized that the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will be at the forefront in assisting the government in convincing the international community that Indonesian CPO is environmentally friendly and prioritizes principles of sustainable nature conservation (sustainability).
`The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will resolve this issue in a graceful, dignified way, with full friendship for national economic revival. We will provide the solutions,` he said.
The Congress, themed `Enhancing National and Regional Economic Competitiveness Through Strong, Innovative, and Sustainable Industrial Development` will be opened by Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

According to Franky, the confidence of the company executives is significant considering the flow of foreign funds that enter Asia pacific is quite high. `So one explanation in the survey states that it is reasonable if this year there is a decline considering the flow of foreign investment entering Asia Pacific recorded the highest figure last year,` he said. The PwC Survey also mentioned, as a whole, 68 percent of the new investment will be disbursed in the APEC region and 32 percent of it to other regions in the world. Franky said Indonesia's achievement in the survey will become government capital to increase the flow of investment entering Indonesia. `Vice President Jusuf Kalla in the CEO Summit yesterday (18/11) delivered several points on how the government's response to the global changes and how Indonesia conducted deregulation to create a conducive investment climate,` he said. The investment realization of the nations that are members of APEC will indeed dominate the investment influx entering Indonesia. Based on BKPM's investment realization data, in the last five years of the top 20 nations, APEC economic members contribute up to 77.5 percent with a value that reaches US$76 billion. The institution also recorded, the investment realization trend from APEC nations continues to show positive value. The investment realization position of the APEC nations in 2010 which reached US$9.2 billion increased to US$10.5 billion in 2011. Then, it increased again to US$12.8 billion in 2012, and increased quite drastically to US$16.1 billion a year later in 2013. Furthermore in 2014 the investment realization reached US$15.1 billion. Oil palm productivity in Riau is still low. `Low productivity on such plantation businesses characterized by fresh fruit bunch/ffb CPO of 4–6 tons/ha/year, fresh fruit bunch/ffb CPO of 20–30 tons/ha/year, CPO 3–5 tons/ha/year and CPO production of 10–15 tons/ha/year,` said the Head of Riau Plantation Office Muhibul Basar in Pekanbaru on Tuesday.According to him, low productivity is also caused by non-superior seeds or non-certified seeds, poor plantation maintenance, and limited facilities and infrastructure.He said that such condition makes farmers income low, besides still facing internal constraints such as limited access for farmers to sell CPO ffb to the factory, so that they have to sell to middlemen.“Other constraints that contributed to Riau palm oil low productivity are farmers’ limited capability to obtain superior and certified seeds, as well as fertilizers and pesticides,” he said.Moreover, he added that still low human resources of the farmers affect their capability to adopt plantation technology, weak institution, yet unmapped distribution of farmers’ plantation, age group of farmers’ plantation is difficult to know, and there are still many Riau farmers that do not have business permit in accordance with the laws and regulations.Palm oil farmers’ livelihood is even more miserable, due to increment of destructed plantation land area, increment of critical plantation land, sea water intrusion, dry and prone to fire condition of the plantation land due to farmers’ canals that are not partitioned (water flows to the sea freely).“Farmers’ plantation land is increasingly prone to fire due to non-implementation of peat water management, besides the land resources that are limited and prone to conflicts, overlapping plantation permits. While the farmers’ plantation land is located within the forest area,” he said.Therefore, he added, Disbun Riau now intensifies the coaching, provides production means assistance, education and training as well as technical guidance through activity programs funded by the State Budget and Regional Budget.
